Media Design School cleans up

Miserable weather didn’t deter Media Design School faculty and students from turning out in force for the Sustainable Coastlines clean up on Auckland’s Piha Beach on Saturday, 15 September.

The group was organised by Media Design School lecturer Tammie Leong, who wanted to give something back to her local surf community.

She said the turn out was much better than expected in such bad weather and she couldn’t believe how much rubbish her team of 25 picked up.

“There were used nappies, tissues and even a crate of buried bottles under the sand!”

Media Design School provided a BBQ for volunteers at the end of the day.

The Sustainable Coastlines clean up is part of a national initiative to ensure New Zealand’s coastlines remain pristine and educate future generations on the importance of the environment.
