Sofia Piven is a lecturer at Media Design School

Sofia is a Lecturer for the Bachelor of Creative Technologies (Game Art). With a background in anthropology and philosophy, she is interested in how different cultural and ethical perspectives shape the design and (ab)uses of digital technology.

Sofia has worked in research and graduate teaching roles at the University of Auckland and Victoria University of Wellington, now a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of Auckland.

Sofia's doctoral research focuses on how 3D reconstruction and visualization can be used in archaeological research. She is interested in exploring how game art and design technologies can be creatively leveraged in fields outside of gaming, particularly science and education.
