MDS AdSchool Wins at Axis Awards
It’s celebrations all around at MDS! On Wednesday it was Team New Zealand’s sensational victory over Luna Rossa to take out the America’s Cup. The next day, MDS was celebrating its 5-year winning streak at the Axis awards. It comes as no surprise that MDS AdSchool continues to hold the record of being the most awarded AdSchool in Australasia.
Our very own Robyn Ramsey and Luke Roxburgh took out the Google Student Challenge Axis Award for Kāpiti – Only in your Country. The brief: a 6 second YouTube branding campaign.
Robyn and Luke took a witty twist on the common dilemma in Aotearoa New Zealand – “This video is not available in your country.”
An idea the judges said ‘turned a well-known YouTube negative into a positive, in a way that makes you a little proud to have something so good, the world can’t have.’
What’s more exciting for MDS, is the hat-trick of finalists were all students from MDS – knocking out campaigns from AUT after two rounds of judging. Special thanks to our two other teams, Gabrielle Larsen and Arron Sharma, and James McCulloch and Charlotte Upton for their exceptional storytelling.
“But that’s not all,” says Kate Humphries, Programme Director for creative advertising.
“MDS alumni had their names on 34 Silver and Gold Axis awards, the Emerging Talent award, 3 Grand Axis awards and the Grand Prix award. We really couldn’t be prouder.”
The Axis Awards, hosted by the Commercial Communications Council, saw 760 creative advertising and production company professionals came together in Auckland to celebrate the incredible creative advertising work produced in the past year.
