The Palm Springs International Animation Festival will run from December 14th -15th 2019 in the sunny Californian desert. The Jury Award winners have been announced and we are thrilled Kino Ratten has won Best Animated Short in this year's festival. Kino Ratten (Cinema Rats) is an animated live-action short film set in a pre-war German cinema. In a defiant act of sabotage, the rats of the cinema disrupt the screening of a Nazi propaganda film, replacing it with a shadow play cabaret performance – starring themselves.
Animated by our Bachelor of Art & Design students in their third year & directed by Peter McCully; Kino Ratten is having success with film festivals across the world. Premiering at New Zealand's Show Me Shorts Film Festival, screening at Toronto Shorts International Film Festival & now winning at Palm Springs Intl. Animation Festival & Expo; an incredible achievement by our BoAD class of 2019.
