MDS Students' Game 'Fork Knights' Wins at Chroma Art Awards
Media Design School students Alex Ujdur, Jason Harris, Sam McFetridge, Madeleine Day, Lance Chaney and Sebastian Tengdahl have won Student Game of the Year at Chromacon 2019 for their game ‘Fork Knights’.
“Chromacon is all about recognising creative excellence from leading and emerging creators, which means we couldn’t be more proud to have our MDS gaming students win the best Video Game in the Student category at the Chroma Art Awards this week.”
- Jordan Browne, Programme Leader for Gaming at MDS.
Fork Knights is a local multiplayer game with up to four players. Fork Knights is a light hearted fencing brawler that features food fighters battling it out for BBQ domination. The light heartedness continues through to how the game was exhibited-in a barbeque arcade machine built by one of the team’s artist, Jason Harris, (who rather fortuitously had previous experience as a welder).
“Watching Fork Knights come to fruition and being awarded feels amazing. It’s been fun to create and test-play the game – seeing others enjoy it with us is something I’ll never get tired of,” says another one of the games artist, Alex Ujdur.
The game is set to be released commercially on Steam this year and can be wishlisted from its store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1097330/Fork_Knights/
